Nepal exported IT services worth USD 500 million

Photo by Kevin Ku on Unsplash Kathmandu, July 31 Nepal exported IT services of around USD 515 million or Rs 67.93 billion in 2022. A study led by Institute for Integrated Development Studies (IIDS) showed that information technology services worth about Rs 68 billion were exported in 2022 alone. This is a 64.2 per cent increase from 2021 where USD 313 million worth of services were exported. According to IIDS, 106 IT companies and 66,509 freelancers exported this service. The report shows that there is a limited amount of IT-related skills in Nepal. The study also suggests that for the development of the IT sector in Nepal, the skills and capabilities of human resources in this field should be increased, and access to high-speed internet should be increased. Manish Dangi signs for Rayong FC in Thailand

Manish Dangi Kathmandu, July 31 Manish Dangi has signed for Rayong FC in Thailand. The club is currently in the second division of the Thai League. He is the first Nepal to sign for a team in Thailand. Dangi was playing for Sankata Football Club in the recently held A Division League . Dangi made his national team debut against Iraq in 2021 where he scored his first goal. Since then, he has played 16 more times for Nepal scoring two more goals. According to Rayong FC, he has already made his debut in a 2-1 win against Nagaworld FC where he provided an assist. Govt revises human-wildlife conflict compensations

The Office of the Prime Minister and the Council of Ministers has created and implemented the ‘ Guidelines for the Relief and Distribution of Damages Caused by Wildlife-2023 ‘. With the implementation of the guidelines from July 17, the human-wildlife conflict relief has been extended and increased. According to the Department of National Parks and Wildlife Conservation , the new guidelines have been implemented by revoking the previous ‘Wildlife Damage Relief Support Guidelines-2012’. The previous guidelines were revised twice until 2017. The new guideline allows people to claim compensation and relief for damages caused by 16 types of animals. Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority Kathmandu, July 30 The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has moved the Special Court against land survey officer Raju Puri, charging him with amassing property unlawfully. Puri, currently posted at the Survey Office, Chabahil, has been accused of illegal accumulation of property worth Rs 10.4 million. He joined the public service on December 24, 1995. Earlier, the Commission had analysed the property details of Puri since his entry into the civil service to till mid-July this year before deciding to move to the court against him. Puri faces the corruption case at the Special Court, CIAA Spokesperson Bhola Dahal said. Human trafficking case filed against rape-accused businessman

Representational sketch Kathmandu, July 30 A human trafficking case has been registered against Surjaman Mali, who was arrested on Friday for rapine a woman seizing her woman’s property by extorting her. The woman said she was repeatedly raped by Mali in 2019. Mali had given a loan of Rs 500,000 and made the woman sign a contract in which he stated she had taken Rs 6.5 million from him. Lalitpur Police Chief SSP Siddhi Bikram Shah told Onlinekhabar that the survivor has filed a complaint against Mali for the offence against Human Trafficking and Trafficking Act. According to the police, the survivor has also filed a complaint against Umesh Shahi of Dhapakhel. The survivor said Mali sent her to meet other people and forced her to have sex with them. However, only the crime against human trafficking has been reported as the limit has been exceeded for the investigation into rape. According to District Police Office, Chitwan’s Spokesperson Deputy Superintendent of Police, Bijay Raj Pandit, a landslide that occurred at 9 am on Sunday hit the highway near Kalikhola of Ichchhakamana rural municipality-6, rendering it unfit for vehicular traffic.
