Kathmandu, March 8

A men’s march was held in Kathmandu on Wednesday morning expressing their commitment against violence against women and girls, on the occasion of International Women’s Day.

More than a dozen youth organisations joined hands to hold the Men’s March: Men against Violence against Women and Girls, on the occasion of International Women’s Day.

The rally began from Bhrikutimandap and passed through Bhadrakali and Ratnapark before converging into an assembly at Bhrikutimandap again.

Women in almost the same number had supported the event, by joining the concluding assembly.

During the concluding event, representatives of various organisations including National Youth Council vice chairman Surendra Basnet spoke about the need for men’s involvement in establishing women’s rights.

President of Yuwalaya, the organisation coordinating the event, Santosh Maharjan, says his organisation has been hosting Men’s March on International Women’s Day every year since 2014 to express men’s solidarity with women.
