Dhangadhi, April 19

A teenage boy drowned in the Katani stream, in Rampur, Kailari rural municipality-2 of the Kailali district in Sudurpaschim, on Tuesday.

The deceased has been identified as Abhishek Thakulla (16), a local, informs DSP Kul Deep Chand, the Kailali District Police Office spokesperson.

He was bathing when he drowned in the stream, according to the police.

The victim’s body has been kept at the Seti Provincial Hospital, Dhangadhi, for post-mortem.

Of late, children drowning has become a regular affair in Nepal due to the lack of safety measures, insufficient recognition of the problem, and children’s inability to swim among other reasons.
