Chitwan, May 3

Shankar Kandel, a local leader of the Nepali Congress party and a poultry trader, has been found dead in Bharatpur of Chitwan.

Police have suspected suicide as he was found hanging inside his office at Belchok, Bharatpur-3. A suicide note was also recovered, informs DSP Bijaya Raj Pandit, the District Police Office spokesperson.

The body has been sent for postmortem now, according to him.

Kandel was the treasurer of the Nepali Congress district committee until the party’s general convention last year. He was also a mahasamiti member of the party.

Local traders say he was worried about the decline in the business of late.

EVs steal the show at NADA Auto Show 2023

The auto expo, which started on Monday, has a wide range of electric vehicles with around 60 per cent of its stall being taken up by EVs.
