Kathmandu, June 30

The Special Court has found the former executive director of Nepal Oil Corporation, Gopal Bahadur Khadka, guilty.

The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority, in 2019, had filed a corruption case against Khadka accusing him of amassing disproportionate assets worth more than Rs 180 million.

Khadka had been accused of embezzling millions while procuring land for setting up fuel storage facilities in various districts outside Kathmandu and had been facing accusations of accumulating property without known legal sources in the course of his tenure in government service.

The CIAA, in 2019, stated Khadka’s valid income was Rs 86.4 million whereas his expenditure and investment were worth Rs 273 million.

He resigned from his position following those allegations.

Govt to classify taxis into 3 categories

File photo The government is set to classify taxis available for domestic services into three categories. According to the draft of the Standards for Vehicles Used as Taxis, 2023 issued by the Departm e nt of Transport Management , the taxis will be classified as ordinary, deluxe and luxury based on their characteristics like size, accommodation capacity and available facilities. The Department has sought public submissions on the draft via its email or Facebook page by June 19. Ordinary taxies should be a minimum of 800 ccs or more. If it is an electric taxi, the minimum power-to-weight ratio should be 0.012. Such taxis should have a sound system for entertainment with speakers fitted in the front and rear. Deluxe taxis should be a minimum of 1,200 cc or more. If it is an electric taxi, the minimum power-to-weight ratio is set at 0.019. 1 murdered in Kathmandu during Indra Jatra celebrations

Image for representation only Kathmandu, October 3 A teenager, observing Indra Jatra , has been murdered on Monday. Police said 17-year-old Shani Karki of Okhaldhunga was stabbed with a sharp object. SP Kumud Dhungel said Karki was stabbed in the chest. “He died during treatment,” said Dhungle. The reason for the attack is unknown but police have arrested two people on suspicion. An investigation is ongoing.
