Jhapa, July 13

A Montessori school based in Mechinagar municipality-10 in Jhapa has been shut down and three staffers including the school principal have been apprehended following the death of a kindergarten student on Monday.

Tanchhopahang Limbu, 8, studying in nursery Sano Sathi Kindergarten drowned in the school’s septic tank.

DSP Deepak Bharati of Area Police Office, Kakarbhitta confirmed the arrests of the school’s principal Manoj Gurung and staff Rama Sunar and coordinator Anisha Pokhrel

The school’s owner Suren Rasaili is on the run following the incident.

The child’s parents have filed an FIR against the four. Though the child was rescued alive, he died during treatment at B&C Hospital.

The body has been kept in the hospital.
