People arrested for promoting betting websites in Nepal.

Kathmandu, July 10

A charge sheet has been registered at the Kathmandu District Court on Monday against actors including Marich Man Shrestha and Raju Paudel, who were arrested for promoting 1XBet, a betting website.

The District Public Prosecutor’s Office in Kathmandu on Monday registered a case against Dinesh Khadka, Anita Dhital, Jalan Gharti Magar, Alish Rai, Ganesh Devkota, Begum Nepali, Roshan Khatiwada, and Saroj Ghimire. However, one individual involved in the case is currently absconding.

The District Public Prosecutor’s Office has accused them of committing an offence against the Nepal Rastra Bank Act 2002.

Sources at the Public Prosecutor’s Office say these people have embezzled around Rs 649.42 million. According to section 95 of the act, they can be fined up to three times the said amount and can be jailed for up to seven years or both.

A case has also been filed against them in line with the Advertising Regulation Act 2019.
