Representation image Palpa, August 28 One person died in a motorbike accident in Palpa on Sunday night. The bike (Lu 42 Pa 6709) travelling on the Tansen-Tamghas road section hit a wall on Sunday night, said police. The deceased has been identified as Naresh Gharti, 30, of Kalimati rural municipality in Salyan. He was rushed to the hospital for treatment but breathed his last at United Mission Hospital in Tansen. The pillion rider, Prakash Tharu, was injured in the accident. NEA installs 3,000 km of transmission lines in 9 years

Representational image: Electricity transmission line Kathmandu, August 27 Nepal Electricity Authority has extended power supply throughout the country by installing 3,118 kilometres of transmission lines since 2014. At present, the capacity of Nepal’s power transmission line substations has reached 8,867 mega volt amp (MVA). Nine years ago in the fiscal year 2014/15, the capacity of Nepal’s substation was only 2,132 MVA. According to the Nepal Electricity Authority, the capacity of the substation has increased by 6,735 MVA by the financial year 2022/23. In the financial year 2014/15, there were 66 and 132 KV transmission lines, however since then 220 and 400 KV transmission lines have also come into operation. Kulman Ghising, the managing director of the authority, said that they are working towards improving and strengthening the transmission line to address the constant power outages. Kagbeni flood caused losses of over Rs 1 billion

Floods in Mustang have caused trouble for locals. Baglung, August 27 Floods in Kagbeni of Mustang on August 13 have caused a loss of over Rs 1 billion, according to data prepared by the disaster management committee of Varagung Muktichhetra rural municipality . The committee said more than Rs 1 billion worth of properties were damaged in the floods that destroyed many private houses, government and non-governmental buildings, business houses and other structures. The disaster also destroyed crops and fruit farming in the area. Apple farming done in over 5,500 square metres of land was destroyed by the floods, said Lokendra Singh Dhami, agriculture section chief at the rural municipality. Around 170 apple saplings have been damaged in the flood, he added. The floods have also displaced dozens of locals.
